A
meeting of Mr. Alexey Likhachev, Director General of Rosatom, with Mr. Mohammad
Eslami, Vice President of Iran and President of the Atomic Energy Organization
of Iran, took place on September, 24, in Moscow.
The meeting
went off in the atmosphere of mutual trust, openness and productivity typical
for the dialogue between Rosatom and the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran.
Upon
completion of the conversation the chief delegates of the two countries signed
a memorandum of understanding and cooperation for construction of small modular
reactor nuclear power plants in the Islamic Republic of Iran. The document
specifies particular steps aimed at implementation of this strategic project in
Iran.
The meeting of Alexey Likhachev with Mohammad Eslami in the central office of Rosatom was arranged within the framework of the Iranian delegation visit to Moscow for participation in the World Atomic Week Forum (to be held on September, 25-28, in Moscow at the Exhibition of National Economy Achievements (VDNKh).
