Rosatom Automated Control Systems JSC (RASU JSC, the Instrumentation & Control and Electrical Engineering Division of Rosatom State Corporation) integrated the Operator Information Support System (OISS) into the I&C of Rooppur NPP Unit 1, which is currently undergoing commissioning procedures in the Republic of Bangladesh. This is the first time when OISS is implemented at a non-Russian nuclear power facility. Novovoronezh NPP was the pilot site. In addition, the system has already been launched at Kursk NPP-2, at the most powerful new power unit in Russia. The system will help the personnel of the first nuclear power plant in Bangladesh to monitor the parameters of the power unit and improve the efficiency of the plant.

“OISS helps the personnel to monitor dozens of thousands of power unit parameters. It analyzes the state of systems, optimizes the presentation of information, and supports operators in decision making. This is not only a technically advanced solution, but also a real assistant for the operating personnel of the first NPP in the Republic of Bangladesh. It will contribute to efficient and steady work at all stages of operation,” said Andrey Butko, CEO of RASU JSC.

“Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant is a strategic project for Bangladesh’s energy sector. It is important for us that, alongside modern reactor technology, advanced digital solutions are being introduced at the plant to help establish a high operational culture and improve staff efficiency. OISS will become an additional support tool for the operators of the country’s first nuclear power plant,” said Dr. Md. Kabir Hossain, Project Director, Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant Construction Project.

Rooppur NPP with two VVER-1200 reactors of the Russian design with the total capacity of 2,400 MW is being built 160 km away fr om the capital of Bangladesh, Dhaka, under the general contract dated December 25, 2015. Russian VVER-1200 reactors have been chosen for the first NPP in Bangladesh. Rosatom's flagship VVER-1200 reactors have already proven their efficiency and reliability in the operation of reference power units. This is a state-of-the-art design of III+ generation, fully compliant with all international safety requirements. Six power units with such reactors are already in operation – four in Russia and two in the Republic of Belarus. Active construction of nuclear power plants using Russian technology is underway in Egypt, Hungary, Türkiye and China. Engineering survey works are ongoing in the Republic of Kazakhstan, wh ere two power units with VVER-1200 reactors will be built.

The Instrumentation & Control and Electrical Engineering Division of Rosatom State Corporation (”I&C and Electrical Engineering”, managing company – Rosatom Automated Control Systems JSC, RASU) unites the industry's competences in the industrial automation, instrumentation and electrical engineering, establishing the technological foundation for control of nuclear energy and production facilities. The Division acts as a full-scope supplier of monitoring, control and energy distribution systems for nuclear power plants at all lifecycle stages for dozens of operating and new build power units in Russia and abroad, as well as industrial enterprises, solar and wind power plants. The Division includes a research institute with its own production facilities; a manufacturer of radioisotope devices; and a leading company specializing in converters and EV charging infrastructure.
