Rosatom’s Novolakskaya Wind Farm (WF) in the Republic of Dagestan has begun supplying electricity to Russia’s unified power grid. The second stage of the wind farm has been launched, comprising 59 wind turbines with a total installed capacity of 147.5 MW. The total installed capacity of the WF amounts to 300 MW. The wind farm has 120 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 2.5 MW. The planned average annual output will be 879 million kWh.
"Today we are launching our tenth wind power plant — the Novolakskaya Wind Farm. This is not just another WF for us — it is a new region on the map of Russia where Rosatom operates, and the largest wind power plant in the country. All of the key components for this wind power plant have been manufactured within the Rosatom Group. This is our first facility with such a record level of localization. The station will ensure a stable power supply to the grid, create new jobs for our specialists, generate additional tax payments to the budget, and serve as a powerful growth point for the surrounding areas. Our partnership with Rosatom State Corporation has proven its efficiency. This year, Dagestan has already launched several “green” energy projects, and we have no plans to stop there. The Republic is badly in need of power generation, so we will continue to ramp up our efforts to modernize the power-supply system and attract investors,” said Fedor Shchukin, Acting Head of the Republic of Dagestan.
The Rosatom’s Wind Energy Division (managed by Rosatom Renewable Energy, JSC) acts as an integrator of projects in the wind power industry, effectively solving the entire range of tasks, from the design of wind farms (WF) to their service maintenance. In Volgodonsk, the Atommash plant organized the production of hubs, nacelles, generators and cooling systems for 2.5 MW wind turbines. Rosatom's Composites Division supplied all the necessary wind turbine blades for the Novolakskaya Wind Farm. Rosatom's WPP equipment is 85% produced in Russia. To date, more than 1.3 GW of wind power capacity has been successfully commissioned, comprising ten WFs. By 2028, Rosatom plans to commission WFs with a total capacity of about 2 GW (including already commissioned capacity), which will enable the division to become one of the leaders in the Russian renewable energy market.
