At the sidelines of the International Congress Raremet-2026 Rosatom signed a series of strategic agreements with foreign partners

Rosatom, together with Indian and Vietnamese partners, is building a shared future for the rare earth industry

During the International Congress on Rare Metals, Materials and Technologies "Raremet-2026", ending on May 22, JSC Giredmet (organizer of the event, part of the Scientific Division of Rosatom) signed several memorandums of understanding and agreements with leading foreign companies. The agreements are aimed at developing international cooperation in the field of deep processing of rare and rare earth raw materials, production of high-purity materials, and establishment of joint industrial capacities.

In particular, a memorandum was signed with the Indian private limited company Nexon Geochem Private Limited. The memorandum focuses on joint research and development of technologies for deep processing of raw materials containing rare and rare earth metals.  The parties intend to implement full-cycle projects ranging from the production of high-purity metals and compounds to manufacturing materials for the electronics, chemical, and nuclear industries. Separate areas of cooperation include the development and validation of analytical control methods, scaling technologies from laboratory to pilot production, academic exchanges, and joint educational programs.

“We highly value the expertise of JSC Giredmet in the deep processing of rare metal raw materials.  Our memorandum marks the beginning of a long-term partnership that will allow us to combine efforts to create a full-cycle production of high-purity materials — from laboratory research to industrial-scale implementation in India,” emphasized Praveen Choudhary, Founder of Nexon Geochem Private Limited.

In addition, a letter of intent was signed with the Indian foundation TEXMiN (Technology Innovation in Exploration & Mining Foundation), part of the Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines, IIT-ISM).  The document provides for joint research and development of technologies for the production of NdFeB (neodymium-iron-boron) rare earth permanent magnets, including the full metallurgical cycle, pilot validation of Giredmet technologies at the TEXMiN Technology Translation Research Park, as well as projects for extracting rare earth elements from tailings storage facilities, legacy dumps, and spent magnets.  The parties also agreed to conduct joint scientific research, academic exchanges, and provide advisory support for Indian and Russian programs in the field of critical minerals and rare earth metals.

“We view cooperation with JSC Giredmet as a strategically important step for developing India’s expertise in rare earth magnets and critical minerals. Combining TEXMiN’s scientific potential with Giredmet’s technological expertise will create the foundation for scaling NdFeB technologies and establishing a full production cycle in India,” noted Professor Dheeraj Kumar, TEXMiN Project Director and Deputy Director of IIT-ISM.

As part of the Raremet-2026 Сongress, JSC Giredmet also held negotiations with the Joint Russian-Vietnamese Tropical Research and Technology Center.  The parties discussed the development of long-term cooperation in the field of deep processing of rare-metal and rare-earth raw materials, production of high-purity individual metals, compounds, alloys and materials for the electronic, chemical and nuclear industries. Particular attention was paid to scaling technologies from laboratory research to pilot-industrial and industrial application, as well as to the joint development of analytical and testing methods for quality control of high-purity materials.  The parties confirmed their interest in preparing joint R&D programs and developing technological cooperation between Russia and Vietnam in the field of critical materials.

The memorandums signed today are not just protocols of intentions, but concrete technological roadmaps. With our Indian partners, we are moving on to the practical implementation of projects to create the production of rare-earth magnets. As the organizer of the congress, Giredmet turns the discussion platform into a center for making real investment and technological decisions. "I am confident that these projects will become an important contribution to strengthening the technological sovereignty of our countries," commented Konstantin Ivanovskikh, Deputy Director for Science and Innovations of Giredmet JSC and Co-Chairman of the Congress Organizing Committee.

The International Congress Redmet-2026 gathered more than 750 participants from 20 countries.
