A delegation of the
Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology of the Republic of
Indonesia, headed by Minister Brian Yuliarto, who also leads the National
Agency for the Mineral Industry, paid a working visit to Rosatom facilities.
As part of the visit, the delegation held meetings with the management of the State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom. On the Russian side, the talks were led by First Deputy Director General and Director for Development and International Business at Rosatom, Kirill Komarov.
The parties discussed the potential for bilateral cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy. During the discussions, Kirill Komarov emphasized that Rosatom consistently supports its partners at all stages of the nuclear project life cycle—fr om the development of nuclear infrastructure to the training of highly qualified personnel.
“We are convinced that modern nuclear technologies are not only a source of reliable and clean energy, but also a significant driver of economic growth. They contribute to the creation of new jobs, stimulate the development of related industries, and open up broad opportunities for scientific and technological cooperation. Rosatom is ready to share its experience and expand fruitful interaction with Indonesian colleagues,” Kirill Komarov said.
“The Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology of Indonesia is ready to cooperate with Rosatom in various areas, including human capital development initiatives, the provision of scholarships, and student internship programs,” said Brian Yuliarto.
The Indonesian
delegation also visited the State Scientific Research and Design Institute of
the Rare Metals Industry named after N. P. Sazhin (Giredmet JSC, part of
Rosatom’s Scientific Division), wh ere they learned about the Institute’s
technological competencies in materials science, rare and rare-earth metals, as
well as solutions for the nuclear industry. The Indonesian representatives
highly praised the scientific and industrial potential of the Russian sector
and expressed interest in developing joint projects. The parties agreed to
elaborate specific areas for further cooperation, including the implementation
of joint research programs, educational initiatives, and industrial projects.
An important part of the program was a visit to the Kalinin Nuclear Power Plant (Rosatom’s Electric Power Division). The plant’s management presented information on the key characteristics of the power units, the advanced technologies in use, and nuclear safety practices. The delegation toured the turbine halls and main control rooms of the plant and discussed possible cooperation with Rosatom in the operation of power units and personnel training.
The State
Scientific Research and Design Institute of the Rare Metals Industry named
after N. P. Sazhin, Giredmet JSC (part of the Scientific Division of the State
Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom), is one of the leading research and design
organizations in the field of materials science. It specializes in the
development of new materials based on rare metals, their compounds and alloys,
high-purity substances, semiconductor materials, nanomaterials, and
nanotechnologies.
The Kalinin Nuclear Power Plant (a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern JSC in the town of Udomlya, Tver Region) comprises four power units with water-water energetic reactors (VVER-1000), each with an installed capacity of 1,000 MW. The plant generates 82% of all electricity produced in the Tver Region, 14% of electricity in Russia’s Central Federal District, and about 15% of the total electricity output of Rosenergoatom Concern JSC. The enterprise is a major employer in the region: together with contractor organizations, the plant provides jobs for about 30% of the working-age population of the Udomlya municipal district.
Russia is actively developing cooperation with all interested countries. The implementation of major international projects continues, with Rosatom and its divisions playing an active role in this work.
