This afternoon, Alexander Yakovlev, Chief Engineer of the Zaporozhskaya Nuclear Power Plant, was killed in a targeted terrorist attack carried out by the Kyiv regime.

A drone operated by the Ukrainian Armed Forces struck a Toyota Camry service vehicle belonging to the Zaporozhskaya NPP at the boundary between the plant's industrial site and the city of Enerhodar. The vehicle's driver, Dmitry Filippov, was also killed in the attack. Alexander Yakovlev devoted his entire career to the nuclear power industry and, in effect, lost his life in the line of duty.
Rosatom State Corporation mourns this irreparable loss. We extend our deepest condolences to the families, loved ones, and friends of those who were killed.

This tragedy was made possible not merely by the acquiescence of Western governments, but by their direct encouragement of the Kyiv regime to intensify terrorist attacks. The cost of this acquiescence has been measured both in human lives – 13 people killed and 48 injured over the past two and a half months – and in the growing risk of a major nuclear incident affecting vast areas of Russia, Ukraine, and Europe.
The international community must recognise the seriousness of this situation. We also expect the International Atomic Energy Agency to respond with a swift, specific, and clear assessment of this tragedy.

The country's political leadership has been informed.
