Auditors from Paks II. Ltd. have successfully completed a scheduled supervisory audit at the Mechanical Engineering Division of Rosatom State Corporation. The audit focused on the coordination of equipment supplies for the Nuclear Island of Units 5 and 6 at the Paks II NPP under construction in Hungary. The certificate issued by ZAO Paks II confirms the Division's full compliance as a supplier of equipment for the nuclear steam supply system (NSSS).

According to the approved documentation, the company is now cleared to supply the essential nuclear island equipment for the Paks II NPP project, which is being manufactured at the plants of Rosatom's Mechanical Engineering Division.

The audit was carried out by representatives of the Customer’s audit team (Paks II. Ltd.) in the presence of officials from the Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority (HAEA) in the format of a supervisory audit. No non-conformities were identified during the audit, and the Company continues its active work on the project.

Currently, the enterprises of Rosatom's Mechanical Engineering Division are manufacturing VVER-1200 reactors for the two power units of the under-construction Paks II NPP. Fabrication of metallurgical workpieces for Power Unit No. 5 commenced in 2024, for Power Unit No. 6 – in 2025. Also in 2025, fabrication of components for reactor internals for Power Unit No. 5 commenced.

Prior to the commencement of work, the manufacturing facilities of the Mechanical Engineering Division involved in manufacturing equipment for the Paks-2 NPP obtained the necessary nuclear qualification certificates and licenses. The initial audit, required to commence work on the project, was completed at the division's Managing Company back in 2018.

The Paks II NPP project is the first modern nuclear power plant with Russian-designed VVER-1200 reactors to be built within the European Union. The project is being implemented under the Russian-Hungarian intergovernmental agreement dated 14 January 2014, and three basic contracts for the construction of the new station. The main construction license for Paks II was issued by the Hungarian regulator in August 2022, confirming the project's compliance with strict Hungarian and European safety standards. In Russia, four power units with VVER-1200 reactors are already in successful operation, alongside two similar units abroad at the Belarusian NPP.
