A meeting of the Global
Atomic Forum was held on September 25, 2025, as part of the World Atomic Week,
timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of the Russian atomic industry.
President Vladimir
Putin arrived at the Atom Museum at VDNH where he addressed the forum.
The meeting was also
attended by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Myanmar’s Acting
President Min Aung Hlaing, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Ethiopian
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, Iranian Vice President Mohammad Eslami, Deputy Prime
Minister of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjaev, Director General of the International
Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi, as well as heads of relevant
ministries of major partner countries and international organizations. The
meeting was moderated by Alexey Likhachev, Director General of Rosatom State
Corporation.
Before the event
began, the Russian President and heads of foreign delegations participating in
the forum visited the Atom Museum exhibition. Alexey Likhachev introduced the
leaders to an artistic representation of a water-water energy reactor and
informed them about Rosatom’s activities in the field of small-scale nuclear
energy and the development of closed-cycle nuclear systems.
Addressing the audience, Putin said: “We unconditionally support the desire for the development and peaceful use of atomic energy for these purposes. It is with pride that we can say that today, only Russia possesses expertise across the entire nuclear energy technology chain, and thanks to their safety and resistance to external influences, nuclear power plants built to Russian designs are the most sought-after in the world.”
