Press release

Rosatom State Corporation participated in South-East Asia's largest energy exhibition, Electricity Connect 2025, which took place in Jakarta from November 19 to 21, 2025. The event, organized by the Indonesian Electrical Engineering Society (Masyarakat Katenagalistrikan Indonesia) with the support of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and the Indonesian energy company PT PLN (Perusahaan Listik Negara), brought together industry leaders to discuss the large-scale prospects for the country's energy development. The Rosatom's booth, which showcased the latest nuclear solutions for the Southeast Asia region, was visited by leading Indonesian business and government representatives, including PT PLN CEO Darmawan Prasodjo and other important guests. Rosatom representative Mr. Alexander Tsibulya delivered a presentation at the plenary session dedicated to technologies. He spoke about the state corporation's cutting-edge power-engineering solutions, which could contribute significantly to Indonesia's energy transition and ensure its sustainable development in the future. In addition, Anna Belokoneva, head of Rosatom's country office, moderated a panel session on nuclear energy, which featured presentations by key players in Indonesia's future nuclear industry, as well as Vladimir Aptekarev, deputy head of Rosatom's Machine-Building Division. He spoke about Rosatom's developments, emphasizing floating power units. Indonesia is demonstrating rapid economic growth and plans to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060. The growing demand for electricity in various regions of the country can be effectively met by large and small nuclear power plants, including floating power units. Nuclear power-engineering is a reliable and low-carbon source of electricity generation that can substantially enhance the country's power system and national energy security. “Rosatom has unique experience and the necessary reference technologies to provide Indonesia with a comprehensive solution that will enable it to develop nuclear energy in line with the needs of its growing economy,” said Vladimir Aptekarev. At the forum, Rosatom State Corporation received the award for “Best Developer of Nuclear Technologies.”

SNPP is one of the most promising areas of the nuclear industry, with all key players working on developing their own solutions based on small modular reactor technologies. These solutions are designed to ensure uninterrupted supply of clean electricity and heat to remote, isolated areas and to support the development of promising deposits. Rosatom State Corporation possesses reference technologies for the construction of small-power plants, both offshore and onshore. Rosatom's small-power projects offer consumers a reliable source of electricity with long-term predictable tariffs. This makes SNPP technologies highly demandable for large industrial consumers who take a responsible approach to selecting energy sources for their production facilities and areas of operation.

The floating nuclear power plant (FNPP, located in the city of Pevek in the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug) is the world's only operational small-capacity floating nuclear power plant and the northernmost nuclear power plant in the world. Its launch in May 2020 was a real breakthrough in ensuring the sustainable development of Russia's remote regions. The FNPP includes the Akademik Lomonosov floating power unit (FPU), equipped with two KLT-40S reactor systems that together provide 70 MW of electricity and 50 Gcal/h of heat. The onshore infrastructure distributes this energy to end users. Apart from generating electricity, the FNPP supplies heat to the city of Pevek. Floating power units are a new and effective solution to the problems of energy supply in remote areas, large investment projects for mineral extraction, and energy-intensive industrial facilities.

Russia is actively fostering cooperation with friendly nations. The implementation of major foreign energy projects is ongoing. Rosatom and its divisions are active contributors to these efforts.
