Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation took part in the International Industrial Exhibition «Innoprom. Saudi Arabia», held for the first time in Riyadh on 8-10 February 2026.
Rosatom representatives actively participated in industry-focused events dedicated to strengthening industrial cooperation and investment collaboration between Russia and Saudi Arabia. These included a session on energy partnerships attended by Mikhail Ivanov, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, and Husam Hajjar, Oil & Gas Sector Director at the Ministry of Investment of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Rosatom also took part in a meeting between executives fr om Russian companies in the machinery, transport, and energy sectors and Khalil Salamah, Deputy Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, wh ere participants discussed the potential for joint projects and production localization.
Speaking at the panel discussion “Strategic Alliance: Partnership and Investment between Russia and Saudi Arabia”, Boris Arseev, Division Deputy Head – International Business Director at Rosatom State Corporation, said: « Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 sets out an ambitious and far-reaching economic transformation. Its success requires more than technology suppliers – it requires reliable, long-term partners. Rosatom is exactly such a partner offering a comprehensive technological partnership, spanning energy and adjacent high-tech sectors, with a strong focus on localization, knowledge transfer, and the development of national industrial capabilities. Cooperation with us is long-termand future-oriented. These are exactly the kinds of projects that change the economic landscape of a country».
Rosatom’s exhibition stand was visited by H.E. Anton Alikhanov, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation; H.E. Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef, Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; and H.E. Dr. Abdullah Aldubaikhi, Assistant Minister of Investment of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Rosatom’s
exhibition showcased comprehensive technological solutions built on the 80-year
legacy of the Russian nuclear industry and validated by project implementation
in more than 60 countries worldwide. The central element of the stand was a
low-carbon energy cluster bringing together large-scale nuclear power plants
and small modular reactors. A project implemented by Rosatom in the Republic of
Uzbekistan was presented as a reference case. Rosatom is a recognized global
leader in nuclear construction: of the 25 power units currently under
construction worldwide, 22 are being built by State Corporation.
Visitors were
also able to explore a large-scale nuclear power plant based on the VVER-1200
reactor technology using an augmented reality mobile application. The digital
tool allowed visitors to «look inside» the reactor building and turbine hall, also
providing a clear understanding of how a nuclear power plant operates, its key
safety features, and its socio-economic impact on a country.
Additionally, interactive panels attracted particular attention. It featured the floating power unit – the world’s only operating floating nuclear power plant, its modernized solutions are offered by Rosatom to international partners. Visitors were also introduced to Rosatom’s non-nuclear solutions, including energy storage systems, digital solutions and data centers, as well as electric charging, medical, and logistics infrastructure.
Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation is a diversified holding company with assets in
energy, mechanical engineering, construction, and other industries. Its
strategy focuses on the development of low-carbon generation, including wind
power. Rosatom is the national leader in electricity generation in Russia,
accounting for around 20 % of total output, and ranks first globally in terms of
its nuclear power plant construction order portfolio. At various stages of
implementation abroad, Rosatom is building 41 power units, including six small
modular units, in 11 countries. Rosatom’s activities also include the
production of innovative non-nuclear products, logistics, development of the
Northern Sea Route, and the implementation of environmental projects. The
corporation brings together more than 450 enterprises and organizations,
employing approximately 420,000 people.
Cooperation
between Russia and Saudi Arabia is developing on the basis of an
intergovernmental agreement signed on 18 June 2015. The agreement defined a
wide range of cooperation areas and established a Joint Coordinating Committee
for collaboration in the peaceful use of nuclear energy. On 5 October 2017,
during the visit of the King of Saudi Arabia to Russia, Rosatom and the King
Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy signed a Cooperation Program in
the field of peaceful uses of nuclear energy, outlining several key areas of
mutual interest. In the Middle East and North Africa region, Rosatom is
implementing two of the world’s largest nuclear power plant construction
projects: El Dabaa NPP in Egypt and Akkuyu NPP in Türkiye.
Russia continues to develop cooperation with all interested countries. Large international projects are ongoing, with Rosatom and its divisions playing an active role in this work.
