Rosatom State Corporation reaffirmed its dedication to international cooperation and sustainable energy at the 36th Congress of the Mexican Nuclear Society, held in Xalapa, Mexico, from September 7 to 10. Organized with support from the Latin American Section of the American Nuclear Society (LAS/ANS), the forum brought together leading experts, scientists, and industry leaders from across the continent to discuss the future of nuclear energy in the region.

This year’s congress focused on advancing nuclear energy programs and fostering public acceptance throughout Latin America. Representing Rosatom Latin America, Roman Aseev delivered a presentation detailing the corporation’s global activities, with particular emphasis on its initiatives in the region. He also took part in a roundtable entitled “Development of the Nuclear Industry in Latin America: Challenges and Opportunities,” discussing both the prospects and hurdles facing the industry.

“Nuclear energy is not only a reliable and affordable source of power, but also a catalyst for energy independence, economic growth, and scientific progress,” Mr. Aseev noted. “For Latin American countries, nuclear technology offers a pathway to technological advancement, the creation of high-skilled jobs, and a significant contribution to achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals. However, public trust remains a key challenge. That is why transparency is at the heart of Rosatom’s approach. Our 80 years of experience have taught us that the growth of nuclear energy relies on open dialogue based on trust and facts—helping dispel myths and empowering societies to make informed decisions.”

Rosatom’s active participation in major industry events across Latin America underscores its strategic commitment to expanding partnerships and supporting the application of nuclear technologies for the benefit of the region’s sustainable development.

The 36th National Congress of the Mexican Nuclear Society (Sociedad Nuclear Mexicana) and the Symposium of the Latin American Section of the American Nuclear Society (Latin American Section of the American Nuclear Society, LAS/ANS) 2025 took place in the city of Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico, from September 7 to 10, 2025. The goal of the congress was to create a space for dialogue, analysis, and cooperation among professionals, researchers, students, government representatives, and nuclear sector specialists from across the continent. The key topic of discussion was “Nuclear Energy Development Programs and Their Public Acceptance in Latin America.” The congress became an important platform for experience exchange and the development of regional cooperation. Russian companies, including Rosatom, are actively participating in international projects and the promotion of innovations.
