Rosatom State Corporation took part in the International Greentech & Eco Products Exhibition & Conference Malaysia (IGEM 2026), held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on 7–9 October 2026. The event served as a platform for dialogue among governments, businesses and experts from across the region on technologies that can help ensure energy security and achieve carbon neutrality. Rosatom’s stand presented nuclear solutions for Southeast Asian countries, including large and small-scale nuclear power plants. A model of the Russian floating nuclear power plant drew particular attention from visitors. The stand was visited by Malaysia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation Fadillah Yusof, and Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Arthur Kurup. Rosatom representatives presented the company’s solutions relevant both to Malaysia and to other countries in the region. They also shared their experience of operating the Akademik Lomonosov, the world’s only operating floating nuclear power plant, which supplies electricity and heat to Pevek, Russia’s northernmost town.
“Floating power units can be a good first step towards building a national nuclear industry and integrating nuclear generation into the energy mix of coastal and island states on a large scale. They can be deployed along the coast, next to existing port infrastructure or large data centres. And the model Rosatom offers to partner countries allows these units to be treated as a ‘battery’ that the corporation will deliver and take back for refuelling, thereby relieving the customer of all waste-related concerns,” said head of Rosatom’s Representative Office in Malaysia Tim Fleming.
