The thrust truss (key element of the reactor cavity structure, designed to securely fasten the reactor pressure vessel) was installed in the reactor compartment of Akkuyu NPP Unit 4 (being built in Türkiye by Rosatom). The installation, which lasted several hours, was preceded by the site assembly and welding of the truss which was delivered to the construction site in parts. After the truss is installed in the design position, the cavity will be filled with a special concrete.
“The installation of the thrust truss is a key stage in the construction of Unit 4. Installation of heavy components requires significant preparatory work; it is necessary to take into account all meteorological factors and ensure the readiness of supporting metal structures, equipment and qualified personnel. Installation crews completed the task successfully. The installation of the truss allows us to continue work on the construction of the reactor cavity,” Akkuyu Nuclear JSC Chief Executive Officer Sergei Butсkikh noted.
