The situation at the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant site remains calm. Last night’s strikes did not affect this part of Iranian territory. We are closely monitoring the situation and maintaining full control. Should any threat arise to our personnel involved in the construction of the two power units at the plant, we are ready to initiate an immediate evacuation. As a first step, we plan to evacuate women and children.
As before, we stress that any use of force against nuclear facilities is unacceptable, as it may lead to catastrophic consequences for the entire region. We remain in close contact with the IAEA and expect the organization to take a firm stance in response to the recent events.
We call for a return to diplomatic efforts to resolve the issue of Iran’s nuclear program. Rosatom, for its part, stands ready to address all technological matters, should such an agreement be reached by the leadership of the Russian Federation at the international level.
