The Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation, Rosatom, took part in Electricity Connect 2024, one of Southeast Asia’s (ASEAN) largest power industry exhibitions, showcasing technological solutions to meet Indonesia’s demand for carbon-neutral and reliable energy sources.
The event, organized by the Indonesian Electric Power Society (MKI) with support from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and the state-owned utility company PT PLN, brought together industry leaders to discuss the future of Indonesia’s energy sector. Over three days, the exhibition attracted more than 10,000 attendees. A total of 165 companies, including leading energy players from Asia, Europe, and Australia, presented their booths at the event.
Alexander Tsibulya, a representative of Rosatom, spoke at the plenary session titled “Nuclear Technologies for the Archipelago”, where he presented the corporation’s cutting-edge energy solutions. These technologies can significantly contribute to Indonesia’s energy transition and sustainable future development.
“Indonesia is experiencing rapid economic growth while targeting carbon neutrality by 2060. The increasing demand for electricity across various regions can be effectively addressed through large-scale and small-scale nuclear plants, including floating power units. Nuclear energy is a reliable, carbon-free electricity generation source that can significantly strengthen the country’s energy system and national energy security. Rosatom offers unique expertise and proven technologies to provide Indonesia with comprehensive solutions to develop nuclear energy in line with the needs of its growing economy,” Tsibulya stated.
During Electricity Connect 2024, an awards ceremony honored leading players in the energy sector. Representatives of Rosatom were recognized in the “Best Nuclear Technology Provider” category. A jury of industry experts evaluated participants based on criteria such as contributions to energy sector development, the adoption of advanced technologies, environmental responsibility, and socio-economic impact.
“We are delighted to be part of this important event in Indonesia’s power industry. We witnessed strong interest in Russian nuclear technologies at our booth from Indonesian participants, and we hope our solutions can become part of the country’s energy mix,” said Anna Belokoneva, Head of Rosatom’s Country Office in Indonesia.
At its booth, Rosatom showcased advanced Russian technologies in large and small-scale nuclear power plants, closed nuclear fuel cycle technologies, and new business areas that support technological sovereignty, including solutions in renewable energy, nuclear medicine, logistics, and IT.
